Designer Janine Robinson’s creative strengths take root in Cambridge, MA. The youngest of three, she was blessed at a young age with opportunities to grow in diverse directions and developed an early passion for the arts. Janine added to her pallet through studies at Shady Hill School and Middlesex School in Massachusetts, and later earned her B.A. in Psychology from Wesleyan University in Connecticut. She has an extensive background in visual arts (painting, drawing, photography) and has now expanded her skill set with her mastery of jewelry design.

Being known for adding that “special something” to mark an occasion, Janine began her entrepreneurial endeavors creating personalized event favors. While this is still a branch of her business, her love of jewelry and accessories is what thrust her into business as she experimented with new designs and techniques.

Thus, Kai Expressions was born in 2005, encompassing all elements of Janine’s expertise. “Kai” (k’eye-yee), Swahili for ‘loveable,’ signifies Janine’s dedication to expressing herself through her artistic outlets.
