NIDIA SOPHIA JEWELRY - TORONTO

Shelly Sophia Nidia Richardson, a proud native of Toronto Ontario Canada, displayed artistic promise at an early age, excelling in the Visual Arts at the high school and University level. She graduated from York University with a degree in Information Technology, but always had a creative soul, and a vivid imagination paired with a great eye. She fell head over heels in love with high quality gemstone handmade jewelry designs she saw in boutiques, but simply could not afford them.

Armed with the latest fashion magazines in tow and a dream, she marched over to her favorite jewelry supply store and learned basic jewelry techniques from an amazing sales girl – from there she started to create her own designs and techniques... What started out as a hobby metamorphosed into an absolute obsession with natural gemstones and minerals, jewelry design and beauty. A few years later, Nidia Sophia Jewelry was born.

Nidia Sophia Jewelry is a line of jewelry that represents all kinds of beauty – beauty in architecture, nature and color. While many jewelry lines celebrate one aesthetic, this line represents a collection of pieces that are distinct, yet unified by an attention to detail and an amazing color sense. In a market flooded with many “self taught” jewelry designers, Nidia Sophia Jewelry has still managed to stand out by creating pieces that are works of art in their own right, yet still wearable as classics or with the current trends in fashion.

Nidia Sophia Jewelry has been featured on Style Bakery’s annual “Designers on the Rise 2005” feature as one of the industry’s most promising emerging designers. Her work has also received rave reviews from Style Envy, Five Star Reviews and She Finds to name a few. She is also a featured designer on Flash Film, a website featuring Independent designers as well as established industry veterans. Her line is sought out by boutiques nationwide, and is currently being carried in select boutiques in the New York and Los Angeles area such as KC Signatures, and Ruby Jean Clothing, which has been featured in Lucky Magazine. Her line is also carried on many online fashion boutiques such as Joya Style Studio, Feng Junk, Unsung Designers, New York Designer, Toutie and I Represent Fashion, a new online indie designer boutique being introduced by Amazon.
