Marisa Danielle Perry has been quite aware of her calling since an early age. She has been creatively incorporating fashions of the past into her wardrobe for as long as she can remember. “I first started scouring thrift shops in the eighth grade, perpetually searching for the perfect pair of vintage Levi’s. It opened an infinite realm of fashion opportunities. The obsession grew from there.” Since then, she has been collecting vintage jewelry, handbags, accessories, clothing and home goods.

Marisa is a relentlessly creative spirit, as a graduate of Fine Arts from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst; she views fashion, past and present as a form of art. It seemed the most natural progression to showcase and market her hobby turned passion. So, in the spring of 2004, she set out to start her now emerging line of women’s accessories, “Pistachio by Marisa Danielle”. It is an ideal medium for her to exhibit her creations, each product design experimenting with unique elements of art, fashion and vintage design.

In each piece from her collection, Marisa incorporates a multitude of various new and recycled materials. There is no limit to her medium. Handmade fabric headbands display vintage costume jewels or pins. Baubles from the past are transformed into fabulously distinct hair accessories. Vintage handbags are refurbished and then decorated with hand-cut leather. Each handbag is seen as a blank canvas and treated as such.

“Pistachio by Marisa Danielle” has recently expanded to include glamorous cocktail rings, chunky charm bracelets, as well as unique necklaces and earrings; all constructed from new and vintage components. And finally, the ultimate accessory for the modern party girl; gaudy silver and gold disco inspired belts display unique buckles constructed from vintage brooches. Each and every design is a work of art. No two pieces are identical. Each piece is hand-constructed by the artist. What develops is a work of wearable art, entirely distinct, an extension of the character of its proprietress.
